The expected AR headset will be the first from the apple tech company and it will be released in the fourth quarter of 2020 and this is according to a research note from analyst Ming-chi Kuo as cited by MacRumors and 9to5Mac. The analyst predicted this, back in March 2021 that the then rumored headset will be released and launched sometime next year. The analyst also is now providing more technical pieces of information on the device also.

According to Ming-chi Kuo, the AR headset will have two processors. One of the processors will be having the same level of computing power just as the M1 and the second on the other hand will be a lower-end chip that will help to handle input from the various sensors. The analyst says that the headset has at least 6-8 optical modules that will help o simultaneously provide continuous video see-through AR services.

The headset is also rumored to have two 4K OLED microdisplays from Sony. Analyst Kuo also cited the device’s mac-level computing power for its ability to be operated and accessed untethered and also its wide compass of applications as one of the factors that makes it so different from its competitors.

What Other Reports Suggests About the Devices Rumored Features

There have been many reports on the other hand that has disagreed with the assumption that the device will be completely independent or whether it will rely on an iPhone device or a separate processor box that will help it stream content.

What Analyst Ming-Chi Kup Thinks About the Device Being Independent

Analyst Kuo however still believes that the device will be a standalone one, writing that “if the AR headset is positioned only as an accessory for the Mac or iPhone, it will not be conducive to the growth of the product. An AR headset that works independently means that it will have its own ecosystem and provide the most complete and flexible user experience.”
