The first swipe night feature was released in 2019 as an interactive “choose your adventure” story. This was at a time when the app had experienced a decline in one of its user engagement metrics and saw a dip in quarterly revenue.

Tinder has hired the 25-year-old director Karena Evans. Karena Evans has before now directed music videos for Drake as well as the premiere of HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” reboot. The Swipe Night story invites users to choose what they would do in the apocalypse. It’s either swiping left or right to indicate their decisions as a character in the story.

Based on how users swipe during the Swipe Night Story, they would get matched with other participants of the story. Furthermore, their choices are going to appear on the Tinder profile. According to the company, all of this new information will make for plenty of material for post-apocalyptic banter.

From Tinder’s announcement, the next installment for Swipe Night will be a “Gen Z whodunnit”. This series is set to utilize Tinder’s fast chat. Fast chat is the quick chat feature that powers Tinder’s new hot takes experience where users can talk before matching.

According to the company, the Swipe Night feature will debut in the apps explore section. The explore section is the newer part of the app that gives members different ways to meet beyond just swiping. More research can be done on Google.
