About the Radboud Scholarship

The Radboud Scholarship Programme is an initiative that supports academically exceptional non-EEA students in pursuing a full English-taught Master’s programme at Radboud University.

Recipients of this scholarship enjoy a major tuition fee reduction and support with essential costs related to their study and residence in the Netherlands.

Scope of the Scholarship

For the 2026/2027 academic session, the scholarship will:

  • Reduce the tuition fee to €2,695 instead of the regular €18,000 (depending on the chosen programme).
  • Cover the costs of visa, residence permit, health insurance, and liability insurance during the student’s stay in the Netherlands.
  • Exclude living costs, accommodation, and other personal expenses, which students must fund independently.

A total of 33 scholarships are available across the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Arts (4)
  • Faculty of Law (4)
  • Nijmegen School of Management (6)
  • Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies (3)
  • Faculty of Science (8)
  • Faculty of Social Sciences (8)

Additional Information

If you are admitted into a two-year Master’s programme, you must successfully pass all first-year courses to continue receiving the scholarship in the second year.

The Radboud Scholarship can also be combined with the NL Scholarship, allowing eligible students to receive additional financial support.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Radboud Scholarship Programme 2026, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Hold a non-EU / non-EEA passport.
  2. Not eligible for the lower EU/EEA tuition fee for other reasons.
  3. Hold or expect to obtain a Bachelor’s degree from outside the Netherlands.
  4. Have no prior Dutch degrees or full education received in the Netherlands (exchange programmes are allowed if part of a foreign Bachelor’s degree).
  5. Meet the English language proficiency requirements for your chosen Master’s programme.
  6. Be fully admitted to an English-taught Master’s programme starting 1 September 2026, as stated in your official admission letter.
  7. Meet all visa and residence permit conditions for studying in the Netherlands.
  8. Be enrolled as a full-time student at Radboud University during the scholarship period.

Note: All English-taught Master’s programmes are eligible for this scholarship, except for Erasmus Mundus and joint-degree Master’s programmes.

How to Apply

Applying for the Radboud Scholarship is done through the Master’s admission application process. Follow these steps:

  1. Apply for admission to a Master’s programme via the OSIRIS Application System.
  2. Indicate in the application form that you wish to apply for the Radboud Scholarship Programme.
  3. Upload the following three documents:
    • Two reference letters (preferably academic)
    • A curriculum vitae (CV)
      (If you already uploaded these documents for your Master’s application, you may reuse them for the scholarship.)

Important: Admission to the Master’s programme does not guarantee selection for the scholarship. The scholarship selection process is separate.

Application Deadlines

  • 31 January 2026 (23:59 CEST): Deadline to submit your initial application through OSIRIS.
  • 14 February 2026 (23:59 CEST): Final deadline to ensure your application is complete and all documents are uploaded.

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. It is strongly recommended to upload your proof of English proficiency before the 14 February deadline.

Applicants will be notified of the final decision by mid-April 2026.

The selection process is handled by the faculty committees and is based on the following criteria:

  1. Academic Excellence

  • Outstanding academic performance in your current and past studies.
  • Relevance of your previous degree to the chosen Master’s programme.
  • The academic reputation of your previous university.
  1. Ambition and Motivation

  • Quality and clarity of your motivation letter.
  • Demonstrated potential through achievements, research, or professional experience.
  • Extracurricular involvement, internships, and volunteer activities.
  1. References

  • Strength and credibility of your two recommendation letters (preferably academic references).

Some programmes may also require interviews or apply additional faculty-specific selection procedures.
