Shelter Afrique 42nd Annual General Meeting

Shelter Afrique is a body with the aim of financing affordable housing in Africa.

One cannot understand housing market dynamics in Africa without a thorough understanding of the housing sector’s political economy. It is critical to understand the interactions between the key stakeholders who have shaped the housing production and delivery value chain, as well as what is at stake at each critical stage along the way.

In doing so, it is critical to investigate the incentive mechanisms confronting the key stakeholders in the housing value chain, as well as the induced outcomes in terms of providing decent and affordable housing for all.

One of the Declarations, No. 16, from the 9th Edition of the Africa Cities Summit, which was recently held in Kisumu City, Kenya, with the theme “The Role of Intermediary Cities in the Implementation of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda and the African Union’s Agenda 2063,” was a call on the entire African Community to commit itself to the empowerment of women and youth by promoting economic support programs dedicated to women and youth.

The follow-up and implementation of this declaration are the responsibility of participating African countries, and they require efforts from the policy level to achieve the goal.
