Overwatch Loot Box Sales End Date has Finally been Revealed. Overwatch has finally decided to abandon loot box sales and while we have known this would happen for quite some time now, we have gotten a confirmed end date.

As blizzard get’s Overwatch’s transition into Overmatch 2, you might have seen it’s kicked off one final event for the original game. Calling this overwatch anniversary Remix: Vol 3’, which would be running from August 9 until August 30, and while you get to earn ‘Anniversary loot boxes’ for taking part, the official Overwatch website issued this disclaimer:

“Loot Boxes will no longer be available for sale after the end of the Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 events on August 30.”

However, players can still earn loot boxes via other means, like leveling up and playing the arcade mode. Just makes sure you are aware that when the sequel launches in early access on October 4, this system would be replaced by a new overwatch 2 battle pass. As such, any previously acquired loot boxes would be opened automatically and added to your inventory.

The End is in Sight

It has been about three years since Overwatch 2’s reveal at Blizzcon 2019, but Blizzard’s only talked about what to expect during these past few months. It is quite clear that Overwatch 1 has no future right after Overwatch 2’s launch this October and instead of releasing two separate games, this sequel essentially arrives as a big update, rewriting the original release as a whole.

So at the moment, we should be expecting a goodbye from Overwatch 1, and thanks to two public Overwatch 2 beta tests, we have seen what to expect. Maps like the Temple of Anubis and Hanamura would not be in regular rotation, only available via custom games matches are switching from 6v6 to 5v5, there are three new heroes at launch which include Sojourn and Junker Queen. Once the sequel is launched, we should be expecting a PvE, too.

Overwatch Anniversary Remix

Still, if you want to celebrate overwatch 1 right before October rolls around, the anniversary Remix Vol.3 is the best chance to do that. Overwatch archives missions and challenge missions are once again back, there is a new legendary skin recolor, and all the old seasonal events are returning for the last time. it is certain that a fitting farewell for Blizzard’s original hero shooter.
