How to Stop Facebook from Tracking you Across the Web

This feature was introduced by Facebook in 2019 and it helps you see and control data that apps and websites share with the platform and it monitors the kind of information that third-party apps can access.

With the privacy feature, you cannot just see the data that has been shared, you can also clear the history of apps and websites that have shared your data, turn off future Facebook activity, telling Facebook to disconnect any information the company has shared from your account.

You can also choose what companies you want to stop sharing your activity with, and it will stop showing those targeted ads.

What is off Facebook Activity

Off Facebook activity is a term that describes a summary of activity that businesses and organizations share with Facebook about your interactions, such as visiting their apps or websites.

How to Turn off Facebook Activity Status

With Facebook’s business tools, you can view what information apps and websites have sent to Facebook. From there, you can clear the information from your account and then turn off the future “Off Facebook activity” from your account.

You can do this for all apps and Websites so they’ll no longer be able to share your search activity with Facebook.

To turn off this setting, go to Settings and Privacy > Settings > Your Facebook Information > Off- Facebook Activity. From there you can navigate and manage your Off-Facebook activity, clear all the history, and turn off any future activity to your account.

What Happens when you Turn off Activity Managed by Off-Facebook

Once you turn off the feature and clear the activity managed by Facebook, it will remove the information that the apps and websites share. Meaning that Facebook will not know which websites you visited or what you looked at, so you won’t see any targeted ads from those sites.

Other ways to Improve your Privacy on Facebook

To control which ad shows up on your Facebook, go to your settings and select Ad preferences. Under the Advertisers and Businesses, you will see which advertisers run ads to you, and by selecting a company and clicking Don’t Allow, you will stop seeing ads from them when they use a list from that company.

Also, you can go to the Ad Settings and turn off ads based on data from partners, ads based on your activity on Facebook company products that you see elsewhere, and ads that include your social actions.

But when you do this, no data will be deleted and you will still see the same number of ads as before.

The best method to use is the Off-Facebook activity feature if you want to remove your data.
