Facebook Vanish Mode: How to Use Vanish Mode on Messenger and Instagram

Facebook Vanish Mode has been the trend lately. Just the same way you had to use your web browser in an incognito mode, similar to the vanish mode. Facebook releases Vanish Mode to the Messenger App and also Instagram.

Though it is currently available on Messenger to US citizens and other few countries. Just like I said incognito mode, this Facebook Vanish Mode will let users of Messenger and Instagram chat silly or embarrassing and immediately remove it by vanishing the entire chat.

This Facebook Vanish Mode on Instagram and Messenger will not hide messages sent by mistake, so this comes in handy when users want their message not forwarded or talked on forever. It will make your entire messages on the Vanish mode go off existence out of your chat history.

How to Use Vanish Mode on Messenger

If the Vanish Mode for Messenger is available in your country, then all you have to do is just to swipe up on an existing chat thread. After this, the screen will go dark notifying users they are now in the Vanish Mode.

Users can then swipe up again after they are done chatting in the vanish mode to return to the usual chat.

How to Use Vanish Mode on Instagram

Surely, the Instagram Vanish Mode is available in the US as well as few other countries. Follow these steps as guided below to use the Vanish Mode on Instagram:

  • Go to the Instagram app.
  • Tap on conversation.
  • Select the user chat thread you want to use the vanish mode for.
  • Swipe up on the conversation page.
  • You will be notified on the Vanish Mode.

Now you can begin to chat in the vanish mode as it will go black. Remember going back to the regular chat will erase all chat history on the vanish mode. This will also erase any picture, message, or GIF shared in the vanish mode conversation.

About the Feature

Facebook has also taken care of the security aspect. It is needless to say that the mode will be only available for chats that are connected to you. Also, you can choose if you would like to enter into a vanish mode chat or not.

“If someone takes a screenshot of your chat while you’re using vanish mode, you’ll be notified. And as always, you can block someone and report a conversation if you feel unsafe,” the post added.

As the feature is in the early stages of roll-out, once a user swipes up they will be shown a “screen that explains key features, including more details on blocking and reporting”.

The vanish mode is currently under development to be launched on Instagram but the post mentions that the feature will be accessible only after you have updated to the Messenger integrated version of the app.

In August this year, Facebook merged Instagram Direct Messages (DM) with Messenger.
