Loughborough University Development Trust Africa Scholarship aims to alleviate the financial burden for deserving African students, enabling them to pursue their academic dreams without worry. The scholarships are funded by generous external funding and University funds.
Development Trust Africa Scholarship – Overview
Unlike other scholarships, the Loughborough Development Trust Africa Scholarship program replaces any existing departmental or Loughborough University scholarships or bursaries previously awarded to the student. Recipients will have their full tuition covered for the full duration of the program.
Please note that students are expected to provide funds for their travel and maintenance costs through other sources. As such, the student must include proof of maintenance funds in the scholarship application.

Requirements for Eligibility
To be eligible for the Loughborough University Development Trust Africa Scholarship, applicants must meet the requirements set by the selection panel. These include:
- Domicile: Applicants must be permanently residing in Africa.
- Academic Excellence: A track record of exceptional academic achievement, typically evidenced by a first-class honors degree.
- Commitment to Return: A commitment to return to their home country upon completion of the postgraduate program.
- Contribution to Home Country: Evidence of the ability and commitment to making a substantial contribution to their home country upon return.
- Financial Understanding: Full comprehension of the costs associated with studying and living in the UK.
- Motivation and Initiative: Demonstrated motivation and initiative to secure additional funds to cover remaining costs.
