These scholarships recognise exceptional academic achievement and are intended to support students as they transition into full-time postgraduate business programs at UCD.

Recipients are expected to act as ambassadors of the school during their studies and long after graduation, contributing to the community’s global network and academic reputation.

About UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School

UCD’s legacy in business education dates back to 1908, with the founding of the Faculty of Commerce. Today, the university is home to one of Europe’s leading business schools, the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, known for its innovation, global network, and academic excellence.

In 1964, UCD was one of the first European institutions to offer an MBA program. Since 1991, its graduate business programs have been delivered at the dedicated Blackrock campus, which hosts a vibrant community of postgraduate business students from around the world.

Scholarship Objective

The UCD MSc Merit-Based Scholarships are designed to:

  • Reward high-achieving UCD undergraduates transitioning into full-time MSc programs
  • Support academic excellence and leadership potential
  • Foster a strong community of alumni who contribute to the School’s mission both during and after their studies

 Scholarship Benefits

Each recipient will receive a €5,000 scholarship, applied as a reduction to the tuition fees of an eligible MSc program at the UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a final-year undergraduate student at UCD, graduating in the Summer of 2025
  • Be applying to a full-time taught MSc program at UCD Smurfit School (including Master of Accounting)
  • Have the potential to achieve a minimum GPA of 3.38 (on a 4.2 scale) in a Level 8 Honours Bachelor’s degree
  • Have completed their undergraduate degree in full at UCD
  • Not have previously undertaken or begun a master’s degree

Note:
Applicants to the following UCD programs are not eligible for this scholarship:

  • MSc in Biotechnology and Business
  • MSc in Biotherapeutics and Business
  • MSc in International Law and Business
    These programs are delivered in collaboration with UCD Belfield and are therefore excluded from this funding opportunity.

International students who completed their undergraduate degree at UCD are encouraged to apply, but should contact the school in advance to confirm eligibility.

Application Process

There is no separate application required for the MSc Merit-Based Scholarship.

To be considered:

  1. Submit your application for an eligible MSc program at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.
  2. Ensure the application is submitted on or before August 1, 2025.
  3. The scholarship will be awarded based on your final degree results and MSc program application.

Successful applicants will be notified after the final evaluation of academic results.
