About the NRWege Scholarships Program
The NRWege ins Studium program is designed to prepare refugees for successful admission into German universities. Its central offering is an intensive German course targeting B2 and C1 proficiency levels. This language training equips students for the DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) exam, a requirement for university study in Germany.
Program Components Include:
- 15-week semesters with 300 instructional units per term (20 units/week)
- Weekly academic support sessions (Lerncafé)
- Study preparation workshops
- Academic counseling and mentorship
- Optional auditing of courses (except for medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy)
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the NRWege program at the University of Bonn, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a recognized refugee or have residence on humanitarian grounds
- Must have arrived in Germany no more than five years ago
- German language proficiency of at least B1 level (75% overall score)
- Reside in Bonn or the Rhein-Sieg district
- Hold a university entrance qualification (e.g., secondary school diploma or equivalent)
Application Process and Interview Details
The program starts in April and October, with a duration of two semesters. After submitting your application, qualified candidates may be invited for an interview and evaluation process to confirm program readiness.
