Each year, Halmstad University offers several scholarships to students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland with the requirement to pay the tuition fee. These scholarships may be granted to students within any field of study applying to our Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes at Halmstad University.
The Halmstad University Scholarship covers 25% or 50% of the tuition fee and will be deducted from the tuition fee. The scholarship holder must pay the required remaining amount of the fee before the deadline shown in the invoice. The scholarship will not cover living costs, and there are no grants for family members.
Scholarship Aims and Intentions
- To attract as many deserving students as possible to Halmstad University’s educational programs.
- To increase the university’s internationalisation.
- And to raise its profile.
Selection Criteria
First and foremost, scholarships will be given to the best-qualified candidates. Special attention is given to the following factors upon nomination:
- The student’s academic standing
- The university’s standing in global rankings.
- Language proficiency
- The priority for scholarship recipients will be those who prioritise Halmstad University on their application and submit it on time.
Scholarship Distribution
All of Halmstad University’s programs are eligible to receive scholarships.
Qualified applicants receive information about the application procedure immediately.
Also, the scholarship application is completed online at our website, and the applicant will receive an email informing them if they have been awarded the scholarship. When distributing, the following factors are taken into account:
- The application must be completed in compliance with Halmstad University’s rules.
- The university’s reputation and the demand for competent students in particular fields.
- The scholarship fund is offered by the university.

Application
- Eligible applicants will receive an email with a link to the online scholarship application form.
- Fill in the online scholarship application form. Please note that you will need to provide the application number you will receive from University Admissions.
Selection
- The committee will award scholarships based on the merit score of the qualifying education. No consideration will be given to work experience or the student’s financial situation.
- Halmstad University strives for diversity and applicants from countries with few applicants will be prioritised.
- Applicants must be qualified and admitted to a programme at Halmstsad University to be awarded a scholarship.
Notification
- Halmstad University will notify the recipients of scholarships by email after the first Notification of Selection Results (March/April).
- Recipients will receive a scholarship nomination letter and an invoice with the deducted scholarship amount. The scholarship must be accepted or declined by the deadline stated in the nomination letter.
- Students who are not offered a scholarship will not be notified individually. If you receive an invoice with the full tuition fee amount, you have not been awarded a scholarship.
Deadline
The application period for Halmstad University scholarships for studies starting in the autumn of 2026 is between 9 and 25 February 2026.
