Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the NCUK University of Waikato Bursary 2025, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Must have completed one of the following NCUK programmes:
- International Foundation Year (IFY)
- International Year One (IYOne)
- Master’s Preparation Programme (MPP)
- Must be classified as an international student (not a domestic student).
- Must not currently be enrolled at the University of Waikato.
- Must not be enrolling in the Master of Nursing Practice program.
- Must be applying for the first time into an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate programme at the university.
- Must hold an unconditional offer of admission to the University of Waikato.
Ongoing Conditions for Maintaining the Bursary
To continue receiving the bursary throughout the period of study, recipients must:
- Be enrolled full-time in on-campus (face-to-face) classes in New Zealand.
- Remain an international fee-paying student.
- Not sponsored by any third-party or external funding body.
- Pass all courses in the previous year (for multi-year awards).
Bursary Value and Payment Structure
The bursary amount varies depending on the NCUK programme completed:
- NZD $15,000 – For students progressing from the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) to Year 1 of any bachelor’s degree. Paid in 3 instalments of $5,000 per year.
- NZD $10,000 – For students progressing from the NCUK International Year One (IYOne) to Year 2 of Business or Engineering degrees. Paid in 2 instalments of $5,000 per year.
- NZD $5,000 – For students entering postgraduate studies from the NCUK Master’s Preparation Programme (MPP), available for eligible programmes of 120 points or more. Paid as a one-time grant.
