This fellowship provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and specialized training to enhance technical skills and contribute to sustainable solutions.

Fellows will be fixed in public sector and social impact sector organizations for five months, working on practical projects selected by the Global Partnership.

These projects may involve data analysis, visualization, reporting, dashboard development, modeling, and software enhancement.

Benefits

Fellows will receive a monthly stipend of $1,800 throughout the fellowship and must be physically present at the government department or SIO office during the assignment period.

Application and Selection Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the CAN Data Science Fellowship 2025:

• Education: Applicants must have completed a first university degree and demonstrate the ability to undertake independent advanced academic research and study.
• Work Experience: At least three years of experience in data management, analysis, and visualization.
• Technical Skills: Strong expertise in technology, systems development, big data, open data, and data science.
• Analytical and Communication Skills: Applicants must possess good communication skills and strong quantitative and/or qualitative analytical abilities.
• Regional Knowledge: Candidates should have a working understanding of climate and health contexts in African countries.

This is a full-time position, and fellows must be fully available to participate in program activities. Selected fellows will engage in various learning and project-based activities, collaborating with experts and industry leaders while adhering strictly to the fellowship’s guidelines.
