<h3><strong>Position Description</strong></h3>
<p>The graduate student will join the Welti Arthropod Ecology Lab, which is relocating from the Smithsonian’s Great Plains Science Program to Kansas State University. Research will be based at the Konza Prairie Biological Station and other potential grassland sites.</p>
<p>Students can shape their research projects based on the following core themes:</p>
<ul>
<li>Arthropod Responses to Herbivory: Investigating how arthropod communities respond to variations in the presence and density of mammalian herbivores.</li>
<li>Ecological Functions of Arthropods: Focusing on nutrient cycling, decomposition, and how arthropod roles in ecosystems are evolving.</li>
<li>Long-Term Trait Changes in Grasshoppers: Examining inter- and intra-specific trait changes in grasshopper communities over time.</li>
</ul>
