<p>These fellowships are a joint effort between the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office and OCIS, and include:</p>

<h2><strong>Program Details</strong></h2>
<p>Fellows will engage in 5 months of self-directed research centered on their projects on the culture and civilization of Islam and contemporary Muslim societies within a global context.</p>
<p>During their fellowship, they will have the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of scholars specializing in the Islamic world, allowing them to build connections, discuss topics such as Islamic history, classical Islamic sciences, economics and Islamic finance, public health, science and technology in the Muslim world, and the study of Muslims in the West.</p>
<p>Fellows will also contribute to the Centre&#8217;s mission of fostering ongoing dialogue and collaboration within the global academic community focused on Islam and contemporary Muslim societies.</p>
<p>The Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) is a leading institution for the advanced study of Islam and the Muslim world, serving as a bridge between Western and Islamic scholarly traditions.</p>

<h3><strong>Benefits Of Chevening Postgraduate Scholarship</strong></h3>
<ul>

</ul>
<h3><strong>Eligibility Requirements For Chevening Postgraduate Scholarship</strong></h3>
<p>The Chevening OCIS Abdullah Gül Fellowship is open to applicants from Turkey.</p>
<p>To qualify for a Chevening OCIS Fellowship, you must:</p>
<ul>
<li>Show potential for leadership and influence.</li>
<li>Demonstrate the personal, intellectual, and interpersonal qualities that reflect this potential.</li>
<li>Be a citizen of one of the following countries: Afghanistan (see note below), Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Philippines, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan.</li>
<li>Commit to returning to your country of citizenship at the end of the fellowship.</li>
<li>Hold a postgraduate qualification (or equivalent professional training or experience in a relevant field) at the time of application.</li>
<li>Have significant professional and/or academic research experience, with at least five years of experience.</li>
<li>Possess a good working knowledge of English, which will be assessed through your application form and, if invited, during the interview.</li>
<li>Not hold British or dual-British citizenship.</li>
<li>Not be an employee, former employee, or relative of an employee of His Majesty’s Government, nor have been employed by the government within the last two years prior to the opening of Chevening applications. This encompasses the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, British Embassies/High Commissions, the Home Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, and UKVI. It also includes the British Council, a sponsoring UK university, or an Association of Commonwealth Universities employee.</li>
</ul>
<h4><strong>Note: </strong></h4>
<ul>
<li>Immediate relatives include parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or step-children, spouse, civil partner, or an unmarried partner (if the couple has been in a relationship similar to marriage or civil partnership for at least two years).</li>
<li>Applicants who have previously received financial support through an HMG-funded scholarship or fellowship are eligible to apply again five years after the completion of their initial HMG-funded award. In such cases, applicants will need to demonstrate their career progression since then.</li>
<li>At the time of application, applicants should be prepared to submit a brief proposal outlining the academic research they wish to undertake. The proposal should include a primary research question and a plan for conducting this research while at the Centre.<strong> </strong></li>
</ul>

<p>Key dates for the Chevening OCIS Fellowship:</p>
<ul>
<li>Applications open at 12:00 BST on 6 August 2024.</li>
<li>Applications close at 12:00 GMT on 5 November 2024.</li>
<li>The eligibility criteria review begins on 6 November 2024.</li>
<li>Reading Committee assessments occur from mid-November 2024 to January 2025.</li>
<li>Applicants are shortlisted for interviews by mid-February 2025.</li>
<li>Deadline for submitting references and education documents: 19 February 2025.</li>
<li>Interviews are conducted from 26 February to 25 April 2025.</li>
<li>Results are announced starting in May 2025.</li>
