The New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE) is the Department that is in charge of Education in New York City. This department ensures that every student receives a quality education. Also, it is the duty of this department to employ quality teachers with great teaching skills as this would give them a better learning experience. Some students work while they learn and the normal school hours may not be convenient for them. Also, some parents are still concerned about the health and safety of their children amid the coronavirus pandemic.

  • All Schools would open officially on the 13th of September 2022.
  • The Yom Kippur holiday would cause schools to be closed on Thursday the 16th of September.
  • Observation of the Italian Heritage Day/ Indigenous people’s day would lead to the closure of schools on the 11th of October.
  • On the 4th of November 2022, there would be an Evening conference between parents and teachers. This is for all elementary and Kindergarten 1-8 schools.
  • Pupils and Students in Elementary schools and Kindergarten 1-8 schools would be dismissed three hours earlier due to the afternoon parents and teachers meeting that would hold on the 4th of November 2022.
  • Another evening conference for parents and teachers would take place on the 10th November 2022. But this is for K–12, and 6–12 schools.
  • Veteran Day would cause schools to go for a break on the 11th of November 2022.
  • For high schools, K–12, and 6–12 schools, there would be an Afternoon Parent- Teachers’ meeting. This would cause schools to be closed three hours earlier on the 12th of November 2022.
  • Middles schools as well as schools in District 75 would observe their parents and teachers meeting in the evening on the 17th of November 2022.
  • There would be a conference for middle schools and District 75 schools and this would cause these schools to be dismissed three hours earlier than the normal time. This would take place on the 18th of November 2022.
  • Schools would be closed for Thanksgiving recess from November 25th to 26th 2022.
  • For the Winter break, all schools would go on holiday. This is from December 24th to December 31st.
  • On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, schools would be closed and this is on the 17th of January 2023.

  • 3–8 ELA Assessment administration would take place from the 29th of March to the 31st of March 2023.
  • For Spring recess, schools would be closed from the 15tgh of April to the 22nd of April.
  • Math Assessment administration would take place from the 26th of April to the 28th of April 2023.
  • For the Eid al-Fitr holiday, schools would be closed on the 2nd of May 2023.
  • Memorial Day for 2023 would hold on the 30th of May and all schools would be closed.
  • The clerical day would hold on the 7th of June 2023.
  • Schools would be closed on the 9th of June 2023 due to the Anniversary Day, Chancellor’s Conference Day.
  • From June 15th to 24th 2022, there would be Regent’s administration.
  • All schools would close on the 20th of June 2022 for the Juneteenth holiday.
  • 27th of June 2023 would mark the last day of school for students for this session.
