International AIDS Society (IAS) Scholarship Program 2024

The IAS Scholarship Program for the 2024 International AIDS Conference presents a golden opportunity for those at least 18 years old, actively engaged in the fields of work, volunteering, or studying in HIV-related areas.

This program not only serves as a gateway to the 25th International AIDS Conference in Munich, Germany but also offers a virtual platform for participants worldwide from July 22 to 26, 2024.

Types of Financial Support

IAS offers both in-person and virtual scholarships for AIDS 2024. Applicants are encouraged to specify their preferred attendance type in their application, along with details about the required financial support. It’s important to note that due to high demand, full scholarships or in-person attendance may not be feasible for all selected candidates.

In-person Attendance:

  • Registration: Access to all sessions at the conference venue and virtual platform.
  • Travel Cost coverage: Paid economy class return ticket from the nearest international airport.
  • Accommodation: Single room in a budget hotel for the conference duration.
  • Daily Living Allowance: Provided for the conference and pre-conferences.

Virtual Attendance:

  • Registration: Full online access to all hybrid conference sessions.
  • Accessibility Support: Tailored to the connectivity needs of selected candidates.

Eligibility Requirements

The Priority Candidates for the International AIDS Society (IAS) Scholarship Program include:

  • Abstract Presenters: Individuals presenting abstracts at the conference.
  • Workshop Facilitators & Co-facilitators: Those actively involved in workshop facilitation.
  • Global Village Organizers: Coordinators whose submissions are selected for the conference.
  • Low-Income and Middle-Income Country Applicants: Recognizing the importance of global representation.
  • Key Populations or People Living with HIV: Ensuring diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Young People and Junior Investigators: Encouraging the participation of the next generation.
  • First-Time Awardees: Applicants who haven’t received a scholarship for an International AIDS Conference before.

Documents Required:

  • Background, Experience & Motivation: Detailed responses to application questions.
  • Letter of Recommendation: A letter from a manager or colleague supporting the application.

Carefully follow these guidelines when preparing your application documents:

  • Letter of Recommendation: Ensure it is written in English by a referee familiar with your work, volunteer experience, or studies in HIV.
  • Organization Letterhead: Include a letterhead from your referee’s organization, company, or institution.
  • Date and Signature: Ensure the letter is dated within two months of your application submission and is signed (original or digital signature).
  • Content Focus: The letter should explicitly reference you, endorse your scholarship application for AIDS 2024, and explain why you are an ideal candidate.
