The company claims that this will offer enhanced personalization and a contemporary digital banking experience to over 12 million customers for both standard and Islamic banking.

According to Temenos, CoopApp, and CoopApp Alhuda’s introduction represents a step forward by making banking services accessible online and through a mobile app, particularly in Ethiopia, which has one of the lowest rates of financial inclusion.

Temenos offers a composable banking platform that is open source. The business says it supports 3,000 institutions across more than 150 nations.

Coopbank Agreement Will Enable a Consistent Banking Experience

In a statement released yesterday, Coopbank stated that this agreement will enable it to offer a consistent banking experience across several touchpoints, including ATMs, online, mobile, and in-branch services.

Since using the Temenos Banking Platform for core banking in 2017, Coopbank asserts that this has significantly expanded its clientele and business verticals.

This partnership with Temenos ensures the robustness and scalability of the Coop App omnichannel platform, which aims to set new industry standards for banking technology in Ethiopia,” stated Deribie Asfaw, CEO of Coopbank.

“It is exciting to see this pioneering bank using the Temenos platform to drive innovation and bring positive change in Ethiopia for its customers and society,” stated Lee Allcorn, managing director of Temenos for Middle East and Africa.
