Canon Collins RMTF Scholarships

Overview of Canon Collins RMTF Scholarships

This scholarship program honors the legacy of Ros Moger and Terry Furlong, inspirational educationalists from London. Since 2001, friends and family have raised funds in their memory to support exceptional individuals dedicated to social justice in Southern Africa.

The RMTF Scholarships for Postgraduate Study aim to provide these individuals with the necessary postgraduate qualifications to create an open and just society. The scholarship offers funding for up to two years for Master’s degrees and up to three years for PhDs. Continued funding is contingent upon satisfactory academic progress and reports.

Focus Areas

For the 2025 academic year, scholarships will be awarded to applicants whose studies fall within the following disciplines:

  1. Justice: This includes Climate Justice, Law, Economics, and Politics.
  2. Education Policy and Practice
  3. Humanities: This encompasses Literature, History, Anthropology, and the Arts.

Applicants must ensure their program of study aligns with one of these focus areas. Interdisciplinary courses and doctoral studies may sometimes overlap with these categories, and applicants are encouraged to use their judgment in deciding whether to apply.

However, applications for programs such as MBAs, medical sciences, sports sciences, and applied sciences will not be considered.

The scholarship package’s value ranges from R20,000 to R100,000, depending on the student’s circumstances.

In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients are invited to participate in an annual conference and various smaller events throughout the year.
