Overview of the Folger Institute Long-term Fellowships 2027–2028

The fellowship is designed for scholars undertaking full-time research projects connected to the Folger’s collections and programmes. Applicants can select either a five-month semester fellowship or a nine-month year-long fellowship, but they cannot apply for both durations in the same application year.

The programme also allows some flexibility for remote research. Nine-month fellows may spend up to three months working virtually, while five-month fellows may spend up to one month virtually. The proposed research schedule must explain how the applicant will use both the onsite and virtual periods.
