The MOPGA 2027 Visiting Fellowship Program is now accepting applications from early-career international researchers who want to conduct research in France on climate and environmental challenges.

MOPGA stands for Make Our Planet Great Again. The program is funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in partnership with the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space, and implemented by Campus France.

Applications for the 2027 program opened on September 15, 2026, and the deadline is December 15, 2026.

MOPGA Fellowship

The fellowship allows early-career researchers to carry out a 12-month research project at a French host institution. Also, the 2027 call focuses on research that contributes to environmental and climate-related challenges and strengthens international scientific collaboration.

Also, successful fellows are expected to begin their research stays in France between September and December 2027.

Applications open: September 15, 2026

Application deadline: December 15, 2026

Results: May-June 2027

Research stay begins: Between September and December 2027

Duration: 12 months

MOPGA 2027 Fellowship Research Areas

The MOPGA 2027 program covers five broad research areas:

Earth system sciences
Climate change and sustainability sciences
Energy transition
Societal challenges related to environmental issues
Human, animal and environmental health under the One Health approach

For One Health projects, the research must genuinely consider the interactions between human health, animal health and ecosystems. Projects focused only on medicine or human health without an environmental or animal-health dimension are not eligible.

Benefits of the MOPGA Fellowship

Successful researchers receive:

A monthly allowance of €2,500
A €500 settling-in allowance
Health insurance
Civil liability insurance
Repatriation assistance
The opportunity to spend 12 months conducting research in France
Collaboration with a French host research laboratory

The official program specifically states that international travel to France is not covered by the fellowship. A host laboratory may, however, be able to provide support for travel costs.
